Frequently asked questions

General

Which devices does PINTA run on?

PINTA runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac (on Apple Silicon Macs), and on Android phones and tablets.

Download it from the App Store or Google Play.

Is PINTA free?

You can download PINTA for free and start coloring right away: coloring pages, a selection of artistic tools, free content and the Daily Drawing.

PINTA Premium is a monthly or annual subscription that unlocks the full collection of brushes, effects and other creative tools.

Do I need an account to use PINTA?

No. You can enjoy the main coloring experience without creating an account.

An account is only needed for features that require an identity, such as participating in the PINTA Community.

Can I use PINTA offline?

Most coloring tools and already-downloaded content work without a constant internet connection.

Some features, such as downloading new artwork, accessing the Community or syncing certain data, do require internet access.

Creative tools

What makes PINTA different from other coloring apps?

PINTA combines traditional coloring with creative tools inspired by real art materials. Depending on the artwork and device, you can experiment with brushes such as watercolor, oils, ink, glitter, shimmer, sequins and other decorative effects, as well as gradients, color modes, stencils and shading.

Can I color outside the lines?

PINTA includes an area mode that acts as an edge saver, keeping your strokes inside each zone even as you paint freely.

You can turn it off whenever you like and switch to free-draw mode to go outside the lines and work with full artistic freedom.

Does PINTA support Apple Pencil and other styluses?

Yes. PINTA supports Apple Pencil on compatible iPads: depending on the brush, it responds to pressure and tilt.

With Apple Pencil Pro you can use its configurable gestures, and squeeze opens a quick menu with your most-used tools.

On Android, compatible styluses (such as the S Pen on Galaxy Tab devices) offer that same quick menu and the same options.

What is Enhanced Shading?

Some PINTA artwork includes an additional shading layer that adds depth and detail while you color. You can adjust the shading style or intensity, or turn it off if you prefer a cleaner coloring-book look.

Can I use stencils in my drawings?

Yes. PINTA includes decorative stencils that can be positioned, rotated and combined with different colors and materials to add patterns and details to your artwork.

Can I import my own drawings? Coming soon

We’re working on it: the ability to color your own line art (an image or a PDF) inside PINTA. It’s not available yet, but it’s coming soon — we’ll announce it on the blog once it ships.

Artwork & Daily Drawing

What is the Daily Drawing?

Every day, PINTA features a free drawing that you can claim and add to your collection. Once claimed, it stays with you for good.

Do you add new drawings regularly?

Yes. Besides the Daily Drawing, we regularly add new sections and templates — at least once a week — on top of seasonal releases like Autumn Gnome Tales.

Unlike the Daily Drawing, seasonal content is only available while the season lasts: it doesn’t stay in your collection permanently.

Where can I find free drawings?

PINTA includes free artwork throughout the app, including the Daily Drawing. There’s also a dedicated Free section that brings together every free template in the catalog for quick access.

You can start coloring without a subscription.

PINTA Community

What is the PINTA Community?

The PINTA Community is a place where you can share your finished creations, discover artwork from other PINTA users and connect through coloring.

Do I need to sign in to use the Community?

Yes, but it’s a quick process: just sign in with your Apple or Google account, depending on your device. Community features require that account so posts, likes, follows and your profile can be associated with you.

Afterwards you can add your nickname or name and customize your avatar. Coloring itself does not require an account.

Can I share what I create?

Yes, and the process too: PINTA lets you record a timelapse while you color and share it in the Community, so others can see how your artwork came together.

See how the Timelapse works.

Who can see artwork I publish?

Artwork published to the Community can be viewed by other Community users.

You’re free to publish and remove your own work at any time, with no restrictions: only publish work you’re comfortable sharing publicly.

Can I follow other creators?

Yes. You can follow creators whose work you enjoy and discover their new creations through the Community.

Are you an illustrator?

Bring your art to PINTA and let thousands of people color your illustrations their own way.
